Multibeam Antenna for Ka-Band CubeSat Connectivity Using 3-D Printed Lens and Antenna Array

In this letter, the design of a passive multibeam lens antenna is proposed for CubeSat space communication system as an alternative application 2-D microstrip array that has originally been designed 39-GHz 5G multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system. The half-ellipsoid 3-D printed using stereolithography technology. prototype capable selecting main beam between 16 different directions with gain ranging from 14 to dBi and half-power beamwidth $^\circ$ –18 . measurements carried out in anechoic chamber show good agreement numerical simulations. presented shows by employing printing technologies existing antennas can be easily inexpensively converted switched-beam or solutions.
